Hi, my name is SamF!
My son finished a supported college course nearly 6 weeks ago. Even before his course finished I emphasised the importance of getting something in place for him to continue his learning journey and develop his independence. Anything that was recommended by his social worker was unsuitable for my sons needs(didn't offer support in volunteer roles etc). a Day care centre was recommended by his college tutor before he left and that turned out to be a great fit. The social worker said that as it was out of borough that it would be unlikely to be agreed, but that we could ask for a increase in direct payments that we already received for 20 hrs. He said we should aim for 5 days at the centre and see where we get. He communicated that his manager had agreed 3 days which we were estatic with. Only to find out later that when approved by higher management they refused 3 days in favour of 1. Has anyone had a similar scenario? Any advice on how to appeal?

Welcome to the community @SamF 😊
That's great that you've been proactive in getting something in place for your son. I'm so sorry that they have offered only 1 day instead of 3. Have you spoken to the manager yourself to understand their reasoning?

I haven't spoke to them directly. I will ask Joshs social worker to arrange a phone call. I have also raised as a complaint

Hopefully the complaint will be dealt with quickly and you get the support you're looking for. Keep us updated 😊
