Hi @Noelmc1972, welcome to the community 😊 I did have to remove your full name sorry, we try to keep our members personal information protected where possible.

What is this lawsuit if you don't mind me asking about it?

the class action lawsuit by Leigh day against the dwp it’s been going on 5 years now they say if I settle with the solicitor for a grand the dwp have agreed to pay the 5000 plus for edp loss but when I asked Universal credit on my page when will I be getting that money? Their reply was we’ve had no direction for that yet and they give me a phone number to call which doesn’t work.

What do you mean by "settle for a grand" if you don't mind me asking? I assume that means you would receive that money?

yes apparently there is 21 of us on this class action lawsuit I see one of your guys posted a letter about it earlier Lee day day say if I take the thousand pound and settle the claim with the DWP the solicitor will give me a grand and the DWP will pay the 5000 but when I asked them on my Universal credit even though they won the case in April Leigh day universal credit said they have had no direction from the government to pay that money so I could settle the claim for £1000 with Lee and end up getting nothing from the DWP which I think is madness because they won the case in April and the government have agreed to pay it but it’s just available agreement. There is nothing in writing from the solicitor or from DWP. Somebody posted it as well about the same thing but I can’t find it now but I would like to speak with people connected to this lawsuit. They won’t give me any of their names . Leigh day

In January 2018 I move to a new address and they stopped my £1100 disability benefits down to 300 for four months before I got it sorted now there is a lot of people apparently according to Leigh day in this lawsuit with Me 21 people so I’m trying to find them on here to get their opinion of what to do I don’t think we should settle for £1000 short paid Me £1000 for four months so £1000 is nowhere near enough

I left a detailed reply on here but after wasting an hour writing it, I'm not writing it again. It's never appeared.

Scope themselves don't know anything about this case and neither does poppy12345678910.

If you want to know what's going on, send me a private message, as I am one of the group and I've spoken to RB directly and had it explained to me.

Leigh day just want out of it it’s cost them more money than they want to spend. I also have spoken with him and like I say, I’ll find them to be a conman.

Hi @Noelmc1972 - unfortunately you're unable to send a PM (private message) to another member until you have received 25 points, which you haven't as yet.

I think it's always wise to have discussions rather on the forum than send a PM to a member until you've really got to know them; I believe Scope also think this wise. It's poppy123456, not poppy12345678910, just so you can see that sometimes members get it wrong, so it's best out in the open on the forum.

I know it's poppy123456, thanks . I was being facetious, ( means treating an issue with inappropriate humour). 😊

I agree with you there. I think he's had enough of the case and wants to wash his hands of it now.

You do realise LD are going to take a cut of your £1k in legal expenses?

We won, the D*P is supposed to pay our costs.

I don't want to have this conversation in a public place.

    It was me.

The D*P are agreeing to pay you, in particular, £1k in compensation ( for stress, etc incurred,) if you agree to withdraw your claim for the EDP ( the 5k you are owed).

We all know we won the case several times so it's beyond me how the D*P can still call the shots and LD for going along with it.

It should be noted, you will have to pay LD some fees out of your £1k, after all, the case has cost over half a million. The D*P were supposed to pay our legal expenses, too. 🤣 I don't know what's happened to that.

LD is still waiting to hear from 50 people and everyone has to agree.

Personally, it seems there's no alternative than to accept a small amount of compensation and just accept it is what it is.

You may receive your £5k in the same way as the SDP was paid. sometime in the future, but then, pigs might fly? 🐖 🐷 🐽

You are still part of the group action until you disagree.

It's unbelievable a legal case could go on for so many years. So long that no-one knows it still exists.
