Do I need to report a PIP backpayment to UC?
Hello, I've been getting very confusing and contradictory advice with this and would like help.
I recently got my PIP award (yay), and as such got a big chunk of backdated money. Now, I know that for UC backpayments, they don't affect my savings for a year. However, I don't know if the same applies for PIP backpayments?
I've checked various helplines and got very different answers? Do I need to report it, do I need to wait a year, do I need to say I have it and present evidence it's a benefit backpayment? I've told UC that I got the award but at that point I didn't have the details so I didn't tell them about the backpayments. I'm unsure what to do.
I'm hopefully seeing citizens advice on monday, but you know how long the wait time for that is, so I'm asking here in the hope I might get a quicker response.
Any advice?

I also did get a payment due to being underpaid by UC a month or two ago, it is fine not mentioning that right? As far as I can tell I have a year.

Money that was owed to you from PIP is disregarded for 1 year from the date you received it. After that time if your capital is more than £6,000 you will need to report it and there will be a deduction in your UC.
