PIP Review/assessment

I got my review forms through in April as my award runs out i think in November. Iv'e sent off my forms and all the relevant evidence etc and got a text saying they received them, then got another text a few weeks later saying we still have your PIP form and will be progressing it as soon as possible. I keep hearing that PIP reviews have a massive backlog so is it possible mine could be delayed too as it was due to be assessed in November, does the fact they contacted me so early for the forms to be filled in mean they want to assess me on time, or is this just a usual thing they do, and does not guarentee it will happen on time?

I'm also worrying like most people with what will happen to PIP now this consultation thing is finished and if it will affect my assessment if they decide to change things like vouchers etc, it's all very confusing and stressful.

Hi @charlie72 it sounds like you're just receiving the standard texts, so it's all perfectly normal. There are huge backlogs currently, my own review took over a year, but the good news is you'll still be paid your current PIP until there's a new outcome from the review.

But please don't worry about the talk of vouchers, that was just an idea from the previous government, I doubt the new government will be going ahead with that.

I can't wait a year for my results. The stress will be too great.

I recently had a major operation with a 50/50 chance of living or dying. I lived. Now I wonder if dying would have been the better outcome.

Charlie, can I ask how long after you sent the forms back did you receive the txt telling you they had received them ?

I sent mine back a week ago today and not received any messages yet

I'm sorry to read you're thinking that way. Please do reach out to the samaritans if needed.

They usually contact you about 8 months before your award is due to end. I returned my forms at the end of November 2023, received a few texts since then all saying the same as your texts did. Nothing for the last few months. My award was extended for up to a year back in June.

If a decision hasn't been made on your review 35 days before your award is due to end they will send you a letter saying your award has been extended.

Yes, it's frustrating that they are taking so long but there's nothing we can do.

It was about a month or so, it depends which area you live in and the backlogs they have at the moment, I was going to ring them but got a text next day saying they had received them. I wouldn't worry too much at moment, a week is nothing, especially with post taking anything uo to 2 weeks, if your worried give PIP a call and let them know youv'e sent the forms, they can also give you more time for them to get the forms.

Try not to worry too much, it does help to ring them, the staff on the phone are usually very helpful and polite, it's the assessors that have bad name. It always helps to put your mind at ease by talking to them, don't read social media or news articles, it makes things worse. Unfortunately they have massive backlogs for reviews, but at least it may be some consulation to know we're all in the same boat at present. If you still feel worried or anxious ring Scope fpr some expert advice too.

my review took around 48 wks, I’m currently waiting on the outcome.
I had several messages stating they still had my review then a letter of extension.

The wait is difficult but if you tell yourself that it’ll most likely be a year before you have an assessment it takes the pressure off. The good news is you will still receive payments whilst you wait.

It can vary as to when you receive the text @apples so I'd try not to worry too much. My review took a little over a year to be done, so it's a bit of a slog!

@nikkita I've popped you a little email, please be on the lookout for it. 😊

No problem at all @Nikkita I've not had anything back yet, but if Talktalk is being a bit slow today, it may drop into the inbox later. 😊

Thanks albus, I was hoping to receive the txt telling me they received the form back tbh, as I don’t want them being lost due to evidence I had to photocopy
