My Uc migration Story

Hi all don't often post but got my migration letter a few weeks ago and started the process with help form a knowledgeable friend.

So my partner and I made the joint claim ticking well clicking boxes, filling in the various information got this all done thinking that wasn't so bad . We then get a message in this journal ( going to swear more of a Burdon tbh) that my partner who is my carer is going to receive a phone call.

So fast forward 24 hours and she get the call they ask her about her conditions and she get told she has not got to take any sick notes or appear at the job centre, bonus we thought even though she is my full time carer.

Low and behold I receive Email saying I need to provide sick note and get ready to attend a meeting with a coach( panic anxiety mode takes over). Straight away my partner phones the help line only to be told they cant help as we have already completed the form and get put through to a rather curt lady who says she will make a note and we will hear by the 4th of September .Off to this journal page we go and explain it was my ESA migration and I was in the support group which I should now be transferred to on UC.

Any way to shorten a long story for the next 4 days I continued to phone the UC line talking to various people who ranged from helpful to just down right unpleasant, my partner and Continued to add to this journal about the decision with my last entry saying you have not placed me in the correct group I am there for going to seek advice on this matter. 2 hours later I get a txt check your journal to which there is a note saying you LCWRA has been added to your claim.

So for what is supposed to be a simple migration has turned into a complete nightmare my anxiety and depression came at me big style the lack of actually being able to talk to some one who could actually help and sort the issue is just beyond belief, all the agents can do is pass on a message to your case worker and leave an entry in your journal.

If it hadn't been for my partners strength and sense of humour I could have seen this pushing me over the edge.

Moral of the story . stay strong don't give up and keep ringing and entering in your journal what is wrong.

Thanks for sharing your timeline @John68 it's really appreciated. It'll hopefully be a great help to others going through a similar process. I'm sorry it was such a trial for you, but I'm really glad your partner was there to keep you going, what a star. 😊

There's one thing I thought they would have done (but didn't) for managed migration and that's provide a reference number for those transferring from ESA which could then be used during the claims process. This would save a lot of issues and the wait for ESA to send your details across to UC.
