Hi, my name is Sharebear! one agent told me I would get back pay and one has just told me I won't.
Hi my review was sent in June 2023. My pip was extended in Feb 2024. Ihave now had my assessment and apparently my claim is with a case manager. I rang them due to my anxiety. I have been given different timescales and answers by agents who answer the phones. They seem to be moving goal posts constantly. I have been told up to 6 weeks on 22 July. However I had a letter dated 5 August saying they have everything to make a decision. I rang and have now been told up to 6 weeks from 5 August. Also one agent told me I would get back pay and one has just told me I won't.
Surely should my award be increased they owe me from at least the date my last claim was due to end in February ? Anyone know?

Hey there @Sharebear and welcome to the community. 😊
Unfortunately the agents you've been speaking to often get things wrong as they're just call centre staff. From what I can tell, there's no backpay awarded after a review, even if the award is increased.

Thanks for that @Albus_Scope it just seems wrong that at we dont at least from date they should have sorted it by. Should I hear differently from them I will let you know

I totally agree @Sharebear I've had the same issues after my review. But on the plus side, at least we have awards still. Small blessings.

Well I'm hoping I will still have an award. Take care

Timescales are only ever a guide but you should allow anything up to 12 weeks for a decision after the assessment report was returned.
If you're successfully awarded and the award is higher they may owe you some money but it doesn't apply to everyone. Usually when it's a review started by DWP the award increases from the date the decision is made. However, due to the waiting times with review decisions a decision maker will use their own discretion and sometimes they will award from an earlier date. There's no guarantee this will happen though. I've seen some members be owed some money and others haven't.
