Will i lose my Housing Benefit?
Hi all,
I am a full time carer for my husband who gets enhanced daily living and mobility.
I get my housing benefit and council tax paid for
I have a 11 year old who i get child benefit and child tax credit for
I have a 19 year old who i get child benefit and child tax credit for, this will be stopping in the coming weeks as his leaving college and going to get a full time job
My question is when my 19 year old gets a full time job will it effect my housing benefit and council tax?
Just for info i am still on the old system, not on Universal Credit yet.
Sorry I'm not good at all this, it confuses me.
Any answers would be most welcome
All the best
Denise
p.s I did type and same post but for some reason it did not go through, if it has gone through after i post this one then sorry for the double post

Hi @Denny1972, Welcome to the community. Sorry, your post got caught up in our spam filter for a little while. It's nothing you've done wrong, it can sometimes just get a bit extra picky and we have to go in there and approve it manually. All sorted now 😊
With housing benefit, sometimes having another adult in the house can incur a non-dependent deduction, but as your husband is on disability benefits this shouldn't apply to your household. I'm afraid I'm not too sure about the council tax, but perhaps it might be worth asking your local authority to see if they can clear things up for you. Sometimes the rules are slightly different for different areas.
We've got some very helpful members so I'm sure some of them will be along to share their thoughts too. Hope you can get it all cleared up soon!
