Hi this is my first post so I'm hoping someone can help. My Husband and I claim UC and have been getting payments for 15 months my husband gets limited capability for work and work related activity and pip at higher rate for both elements, I am also his carer and I get carers. My Husband recieves a pension from a previous employer aswell, we are not yet of state pension age. His pensions gone up by 29.27 but they have taken away 614.99 from uc and I don't know why it's also been backdated to April which has left us with a debt of 1760 to pay back. They won't explain why this has happened I wondering anyone has had experience of this.

Has his pension been being taken out from your UC? As unfortunately it's deducted pound for pound from UC. If your carers is carer's allowance, then that's also deducted pound for pound from UC 😕

Have you had a look at your statements to see what's changed?? You should be able to see your original statement and the new one since they decided an overpayment ❤️

Hi @Fab123456, welcome to the community 😊 Hope we can help figure out what's gone on here. You mention it was backdated to April, when the tax year started. Did you start receiving any new income in April, or was it just the £29.27 increase in his pension? It sounds like something changed from April to cause them to backdate it to then.

Hi Jimm_scope thanks for commenting, there hasn't been any new income and we've only been on uc for 15months so when we first put in our claim it was just before the pension would have gone up so they told me to tell them on my journal when I knew what the amount would be , I did that in May 2023 and my case worker took that information and my amount didn't change then at all roll on to April 2024 and I sent the Info about the increase in pension 3 times and they got back to me last week and this happened.

Hi biblioklept, thanks for your comment, I'm not sure what's going on to be honest because they were aware of the pension in the beginning and accepted updates about it from me last year but this year all of a sudden they are taking over £600 from us.

May I ask how much the pension is per week? Were there any deductions being made from the start of your claim? If there weren't then there should have been.

Difficult to advise without knowing all of the details and what exactly he statements included from the start and when they include now, including all deductions.
