Council tax
Hi am looking for some debt advice on council tax we have received letters from bailiffs we have been it touch with Sefton Council and the bailiffs and tried to set up some kind of payment plan but there saying no am on full disability and my partner works full time but also has health issues.…

Hey @carl22, I hope you're doing okay. I've actually been through council tax debt a long while ago. I managed to set up a payment plan back then, they should be giving you a reason for refusing a payment plan? Have you questioned their reason behind refusing a payment plan?

They have said we need to pay one bill in full before the would even consider a payment plan... we have called and called the CBA for advice but never get a answer also when we spoke to Sefton Council about the debt we where paying £100pm to clear debt and the informed us the they where only receiving £30pm because we where paying though a debt company and they where taken £70 as there fee's

Sorry we where paying £82pw and the they had been receiveding was £32pw off the debt recovery as I am no longer working because of my health we have fell behind with most of our bills
