Good afternoon @misstracey
Do you claim any help with housing costs at all? For example through Housing Benefit or Universal Credit? Do you know if you receive Severe Disability Premium with your ESA?

If your ex moved back in with you as friends then you will lose the SDP unless he's either registered blind or claims a qualifying disability benefit himself such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care. If he does then the SDP can continue.
If you're renting from social housing and you're affected by the bedroom tax then you will no longer be affected by that because you'll be entitled to an extra bedroom.
If privately renting and you're currently claiming 1 bedroom rate of local housing allowance then you'll be entitled to 2 bedroom rate.
Please also note that a section 21 doesn't mean he will have to move out of the property he's living in. Only a court can evict him. I'd advise him to speak to shelter regarding that.
