Hello everyone,

I’m looking into moving out from my parents house into a flat with my sister during this year. I’m really excited however I have a bad doubt.

I get UC LCWRA and pip enhanced on daily living and standard on mobility.

Now my question is, will I receive any extra money for paying rent etc? My sister works full time but I don’t due to disability issues.

It’ll most likely be a private tenant and 2 bedrooms.

I read somewhere that my Uc would raise as I’d be living in my own flat rather than living with my parents but I’m unsure if this is true or not.

Many thanks.

Hi @Annonmouse2200, welcome back to the community. I've just moved this over to our Universal Credit section as I think you'll have a better chance of getting an answer here 🙂

I think this will depend on whether you have a joint tenancy, or whether it will be in your sisters name, with you just paying her some of the rent.

OverlyAnxious is correct, If you have liability to pay rent to a landlord and you're either named on the tenancy agreement or you have your own separate tenancy agreement then you can claim for help with the rent.

If you're just moving in with your sister and she's named on the tenancy agreement then you will not be able to claim for help with the rent.

Thanks all for the replies. We will be joined paying rent to the landlord.
