Wet Rooms
Hello All
I Seen Folk Were Asking About Wet Rooms,I Recently Had A Wet Room Fitted,I Am Not Pleased With What I Ended Up With,It Was Put Where We Did Not Want It, We Are In Dispute With The Company,It has been Going On Now Since April,I Use A Zimmer In The Home,And Use It To Enter The Shower,I Find The Space In The Shower Not Great When Turning Round,My Understanding Is No Obstacles Should Be In The Way Of The Disabled Person,We Have A Dispute About The Cost Of The Work,Infact I Was Charged V.A.T When I Realised I Was Charged,I Contacted Them To Retunn The Amount They Took,They Have Told Me I Still Owe Them £500.And They Wish To Deduct The £500.From The V.A.T Owed To Me,When I Agree To That,They Will Then Send The Balance,I Have Not Agreed To This,And Will Not.I Think I Should Try And Find Out If There Is Someone,Or Disabled Group Who Could Come And Check The Wet Room To See If They Have Carried The Work Out To The Proper Specifications.
Best Wishes To You All
John

Hey @Bluereversef10, welcome to our community 🙂 I hope we can help find the right advice for this situation. It sounds like you've gone through a pretty horrible experience.
Can I ask if you've informed your Local Authority at all about this situation? Were they involved in anyway in assessing the house for a wet room at all?
Just checking this first to see what we can do.

Dear Jimm
Yes When The Lady Came To Our House,I Can Name The Lady,And The Company,If You
Wish, I Had My Zimmer In Front Of My Recliner Chair,Anna My Wife Had Her Stroller,She Asked Where The Bathroom Was,Anna My Wife Asked If She needed Us To Accompany She Said She Would manage,We Thought She Would Need us For Working out The Space We Needed For getting In And Out Of The shower.Where She wanted To Put The Shower Was No Use To Us,We Said That Would Not Work For Us,And The Shower Would Need To Be Where It Is At Present,We Then Got A Date,When the Chap staryted Work We Had A look And The Shower Was Put In The Place We said We Did not Want,Got In Touch The The Company we Told Them What Had Happened,They told Us To Tell Him To Change It Back,He Refused Saying He Was To Stick To Plans He Was Giving. We Could Not Get Them To Change The Plans,And We Were stuck With It.The Cost Was £8,000,We Paid £2,000 deposit Balance of £6000 On Completion. I Did Not Find There Was Enough space To Turn Around With Ease,So I Asked For The Panel To Be Removed To Get A Few Inches More,I Was Told I Would Have £500 Less To Pay.When I Went To Pay I Paid £5,500 Bringing It To £7,500.I Realised They Had Charged Me V.A.T When Im Exempt I Contacted Them Once A Week For 6 Weeks I Was Told They Would Not Return The V.A.T As I Owed Them £500. No One Could Recall This Conversation About £500 Deduction, So If I Agree To Them Deducting £500 They Will Send The Balance To me,I Have Said No.My Daughter Has Been Trying To Sort This Out For Monthes,And Complaining About The Wet Room,They Have Said They Will Replace The Wet Floor,Donna Still In Touch With Them. Sorrty About The Length Of This.
Thanking You All
John
