PIP REVIEW (Confused)
Hi
Can anyone here please advise as best as they can because I am so confused.
My dad has been on PIP enhanced since 2018 as he has heart failure followed by a mini stroke. He already suffers from epilepsy, which he’s had for years.
His last award was due for a review this October (2024), but he got a letter at the end of July saying that his review will take longer so they extended his award till October 2025.
Today he got a text saying:
Your PIP review is complete and you should receive your decision letter in 2 weeks.”
They also said do not phone as we won’t be able to tell you the decision over the phone. He has had “No Face to Face” or “Telephone Review”.
So what does this mean. My questions are;
- Why extend the award if the review was going to be complete by October?
- Does it mean they may have stopped his award without visiting him as he is really ill now?
- Have they possibly just extended the award only till October 2025?
Any help from you kind people will be appreciated.
Thank you for taking time in reading my rant 😊😊 It’s just I don’t live with my mom and dad and this is now confusing them.
Regards
Jay

Hi,
Sorry the new formatting on here is awful. Have had to change numbers to letters to make it readable.
A. The extension is the maximum end date. PIP can be reviewed at any time. Many claimants have been reviewed shortly after the extension letter.
B. Yes that is possible. Though as he has had a paper based review, that would be unlikely.

Thank you very much for your input it has put me somewhat at ease.
I know I may sound a bit selfish but because of my work I won’t have time to be running to and fro from Tribunal Hearings, as I live in Stafford and my father in Birmingham.
He had to also give his Motability car back, but when we got the extension we had to put a NEW order in for him which hasn’t arrived yet and may be 3 months till he gets that.
It’s all up in the air at the moment because his carer needed the motability car to drive him to and from doctors/hospital appointments.
I hope it’s good news for him and his award continues because this is the first time he’s had a paper based review WITHOUT any contact from DWP.
Thanks to everyone on here because you all are doing an amazing job for people. Keep it up everyone and best wishes to each and every one of you.

Thanks for this reply, hopefully they’ve extended it beyond October 2025 as they’ve done a paper review for him.
I filled the review form on my dads behalf when he received it along with his carer. Thanks for your input, it’s much appreciated.

UPDATE
Firstly thank you to everyone who left a comment and read my concerns.
My father received his letter today with the new award that has been extended till October 2028 which has somewhat calmed my fathers anxiety levels.
Once again I thank each and everyone of you on this forum that has undoubtedly helped thousands of people like me who had no idea of what was going to happen.
At least my father can relax for 4 years until this happens again.
Regards
Jay
