Received my migration letter and feel so worried

hi, I’m hoping people can advise please. I’m so worried about the letter I’ve received and how this is going to affect my benefits.

I am on old style ESA support group which should been reassessed last year but never was.

I also get pip higher rate both elements. I get child tax credits and child benefit and housing benefit and council tax benefit.

I am so worried about being reassessed and being found I have to work as I would just not cope with this. Does anyone know if I will automatically get the equivalent of the old style esa support group in my universal credit or do I have to reapply and get reassessed for this? Also does my pip stop and child benefit?

Also does anyone know if I will get back dated for the time period they say I will. It get any money for so say 5 weeks do they backdate to the start of the claim

I want to try and get as much information before I apply for the UC so hoping some people could kindly give advice

many thanks

Will you cope with monthly payments?

I know I’ll be getting a better sum of money when I move to UC. I’m an Income Related ESA claimant and my time of migrating will be coming. I just don’t like the frequency of the payments - I WILL NOT accept monthly and with NO HESITATION be asking for something called an Alternative Payment Arrangement. I’ll still get fortnightly payments that way, PROVIDING my APA request is granted.

I post on this forum that much about the frequency of the payments because I find it so aggravating that the DWP think that someone can just move to monthly payments like that and get used to it. APAs exist to give vulnerable claimants a chance to still stay on the fortnightly frequency, but I do think it’s safe to say they’d rather have as many claimants as possible “accept” monthly payments and “cope” with them.

I should qualify because I have a diagnosis of autism. Decision makers are meant take the guidance that’s on the gov.uk website for APAs into consideration when making that decision on an APA request.

I hope they don’t send my migration notice letter to me in a hurry - even if I’ll be getting more money sent to my bank account. I think about the monthly frequency so much, getting angry thoughts.

Question answered on your other thread here.

Thank you @ChrisSCOPEhtfc94 I do agree with you about your thoughts on the APA but please remember that not everyone will be able to have this put in place. It does depend on each individual claimant and I'm not talking specifically about you, I'm talking about people in general.
