GCSE Results Day!
Do you have any relatives or anyone you know receiving their GCSE results today?
The online community team were just discussing our GCSEs (many years ago!) and how the teachers drilled into us how important they were.
Does anyone remember their GCSE results day? Also, do any of you still have your Record of Achievement!? I was convinced I wouldn't get a job without it 😂

I do remember mine vividly, did well in maths & science, not so well in languages. That was back when grades were letters, I don't know how the numbers grades compare today.

@OverlyAnxious It sounds like you’re good with number and facts. I was terrible at math! I was trying to work out what my results were in numbers but gave up 😂

I do, I re-took several of my GCSE's 2 years ago, some 30 years+ after originally taking them. All passes this time!

That's great @Ray212! Did you retake them for a certain reason, like a job?
I don't understand the new grading system and my son's going into Yr10 so I'm going to have to learn. I must prefer the letters, it made sense!

Thank you. mainly for personal achievement really. It was Maths and English. Back when I was at school, gcse's didn't really seem to matter that much. I mean you could just walk into a job. But I was always unhappy about my results and they have held me back much of my adult life due to needing C's and above in Maths and English. So I wanted to correct that.
In the end I got a 4 and 5 which would be a C and C+ so happy I corrected the mistakes of the past.
And as I am now looking for work(a very slow process) I hope they will help with that too.
I don't understand why they needed to change the marking scheme to be honest.

That's great that you wanted to do it for yourself! The job market is definitely difficult now and everyone seems to want Maths and English. Well done on your grades, and thank you for translating them into letters 😂
I don't know if you're already aware but we offer a Support to Work programme if that would be helpful to you? Here's the link
