Transitional Protection
hello I received the dreaded migration letter and I applied for universal credit. In my migration letter it stated I would not be worse off I will receive Transitional Protection. I have just looked at my first statement and it’s not been added at all . Anyone else had the same happen ? I’m so worried 😟

Not everyone is entitled to Transitional Protection, it will depend on the figures between the benefits you were previously claiming and what your UC amounts are and they wouldn't have known that when the letter was sent out to you.
If there is definitely entitlement it's not unusual for it not to be calculated in time for your first payment. I've seen this happen so many times. When this happens, they usually calculate it within about a week after you receive your first payment.
If you think you're entitled to it then put a message onto your journal under the payment section and ask them.

thank you so much for getting back to me . I definitely should be getting it . I’m £600 pound a month worse off now .its hard enough being disabled as it is . And this stress really does not help me . I have sent a message on my uc account . Thanks again

You're welcome. I know it's easy for me to say but please try not to worry, it's more common than you realise. It's because the department of the benefits you were previously claiming haven't yet sent the figures to UC so they can't calculate the TP until that's done.

Hi @stephanielou90, welcome to the community 😊 £600 worse off a month is dreadful. I can understand why you're so stressed about it! I hope Poppy has reassured you about the situation. Hopefully you receive the Transition Protection from next month, do let us know if anything else happens.
If you are struggling with bills this month then you could perhaps ask for advice/information in our Money and Bills category. We also have some advice pages here: Advice and support | Help with bills and food | Disability charity Scope UK
