hi, i have recently been informed that i am entitled to disabled child element and have been for the past 4 years and had never heard of it. I have informed UC about it and filled everything out they have told me to on my online journal and it is with a decision maker about full back payment as I have been entitled to it for all this time and have been advised I am to ask for full amount. Was just wondering if anyone knew what my chances where of back payment and how long would it usually take for decision to be made? Thanks xx

You will receive what is owed. It has to go to a decision maker for them to make the decision. It may take a few weeks for the decision to be made. Money owed will be paid as a separate payment and often takes quite a few weeks to pay it.

Hello @RayP, welcome to the Scope community 😊 this sort of thing doesn't happen as often as other types of decisions, such as PIP or ESA assessments, though usually it's very clear that the person was eligible the entire time so it should go in your favour. It sounds like everything should be quite cut and dry and you should receive everything you are owed.

If, somehow, it returns otherwise you are still entitled to appeal the decision. Let us know how it all goes, we're always happy to get questions 🙂
