Now I hate to be the bearer of bad news but……. its only 16 WEEKS AND 6 DAYS TO CHRISTMAS.

Now being a trend setter, firstly - may I be the first to ask you to start putting a few BOB in a jar which will mount up quickly,

second, start making lists of who is getting what and nuse the sales now to get that gift.

third, A present now will be less to buy on the week leading into Christmas where others have left it to late.

And best of ALL, read this and list what you have done……

POEM - Simply 2024.

onebigvoice Scope Member Posts: 799 EmpoweringJanuary 15I was thinking about this year and came up with this.

POEM -  Simply 2024.

Well Christmas has been and gone

And 23 is now only in song

Oh what did I want to achieve

I never meant to deceive.

I made some promises in good faith

To be nice and keep others safe

To give up smoking, and a little less drink

Does that sound right

Oh, what do you think?

A New Year wish is to improve

the expectations of this coming year

So don’t set your sights too high

You’ll end up missing, by a mile.

Slow and steady wins the race

Small changes to keep up the pace.

And before you know it, we are here again

Putting up decorations for another year.

So without further ado

what’s your resolution for this year

Mine is not to worry too much yet

The government has more worries, not heaven-sent.

So be happy with your lot

And help your family as best you can

Because it could be this year

That operation may appear.

So who will look after you?

Even if you caught the flu.

They will all rally round

Because the relationship you have comes from the heart.

OBV  15/01/2024.

SOON GOES…… Merry Christmas, everyone.

Oh gosh @onebigvoice, I'm not sure I'm ready to consider the C word yet!

I remember your poem from January, though, it's great! Luckily, I didn't make any resolutions, so I have nothing to feel disappointed about at this point in the year 😉

    Rosie,

I tend to believe, that most say they don't make promises, BUT, do really likle to improve something…….

maybe your resolution was to not make a resolution? How did you do?

you still have time… here's one suggestion….. don't leave it to late to start thinking about making lists…

If that was my resolution, I am doing fantastically well 😁

    I'll have to start thinking!

Hello @onebigvoice and @Rosie_Scope It is never too early to start planning Xmas, especially if you are on a limited income. Planning ahead makes life easier and less stressful. I have my Xmas menu planned. Minimal cooking, not much washing up, maximum gain. My shopping will be finished a good few days before the Big Event and I shall go into the pub, have a beer and completely wind down knowing all duties have been fulfilled.

That does sound like a good way to see it @Steve_in_The_City, I bet you'll have a lovely meal and much less stress to do it all in advance. Your day sounds very relaxing!

I better start the preparations, then!

Lovely poem there, though I've already started planning xmas, but I keep forgetting what the plans are and have to start again.

I was keeping a swear jar to buy xmas gifts with, but unfortunately, after a month, 95% of my wages (after rent and bills of course) ended up in there, so I've scrapped that idea. 😆

The first resolution for this year: Get a bigger jar and a bigger slot so the money goes to a better cause earlier………

SWEAR: Simple Words End A Resolution>

Have a go. (Use Swear) as above or in a sentence?

I swear you have to be joking if you think I am going to do that?
