Not eligible for council house? PIP question
my partner and I have been bidding for three years on the council’s property site with no luck. My eviction notice was for the 24th of July. My partner has severe copd and his condition has deteriorated severely since his last pip assessment. He started having anxiety attacks leading up to the eviction date due to the thought of being on the streets. His last attack was so bad his lung collapsed and he is now in hospital. He has a drain in his lung and he has pneumonia too. We are 51 and 52 years old. We need a bungalow that is pet friendly as we have a small elderly dog. We were told we are not eligible for one as his score on the mobility section is not high enough. He scored 14. 10 on planning a journey and 4 for moving around. This needs to be changed. He scored enough on that section to be awarded enhanced. The housing are now saying it’s the individual question score not the whole section! Pip have been no help about a reassessment. I don’t know what else to do! Any ideas would be appreciated

Hey there @SarahGracie and welcome to the community. 😊
I'm sorry to hear your partner is in hospital, I'm sending all the healing energies their way.
Sorry, can I just clarify, are you wanting to put in for a change of circumstances for his PIP? 14 points would have given them enhanced mobility, so I'm unsure why they're saying that's not enough points?
I'm hoping one of our supersmart regulars will have all the answers you need, unfortunately housing isnt my strong point.

Thank you for your kind reply. 14 points SHOULD be enough but it seems one employee doesn’t think so! When I speak to other employees they,at first, agree that 14 is enough but after looking into it they suddenly go quiet on me and give me short answers. Something stinks to me!

@SarahGracie are you able to obtain the council's written policy/eligibility criteria in relation to this ? If so, there may be something within it that you can cite which supports your claim for eligibility based on the 14 points and/or undermines the council's stance that you are not eligible.
I can only assume there is a written policy/eligibility criteria, because the council appear to be relying upon it to support its rejection of your application for the housing you require.
If you can't find anything via searching on the council website/internet, then I would suggest you send an email to the council asking for it to be sent to you asap.

am I reading this wrong?

Looks like it's because you are under the age of 60 and haven't scored 12 points in the moving around part of mobility PIP, you only scored 4 points for this.
Most LA's have very strict criteria for bungalows because they are very few and far between.
Have you considered a ground floor flat?
