I am eighty two and am now disabled with osteoarthritis in my knees and back. I too was thinking of buying a chair from a 'care' shop and the one I was most taken with was over two thousand pounds and I am wondering how I can justify spending this amount of money when I really can't afford to. It is sheer exploitation from these parasitic companies. Like many others with similar problems I am in severe pain and stiffness most of the day and just want some relief and a good chair might help but must we have pay so much extra for a rip-off.

Hi @mumbojumbo and welcome to the community. That is a lot of money to part with and for that price you'd want it to be doing all the housework for you too! I've had a quick google for chairs that lift you up and there were some which were much more affordable. It might be cheaper to buy one online, although the downside is that you won't be able to try it out beforehand.

Maybe one of our members has a chair they could recommend?
