Non dependent living at home.
Hi all,
I've been having a gander this afternoon, anything like my own situation. It's helped a lot.
I may aswell write something for some feedback..taken me ages to realise, I had to only press the + button 🤣👍🏼
I am in receipt of standard daily living on PIP and low end mobility also..
I get LCWRA in with my UC payments every month. I am in receipt of HB, but I'm paying bedroom tax at 14% as I'm in a 2 bed property. My son of 25 who works, wants to move back home after a break up. I understand that I will get my bedroom tax back each month. But how will it affect my HB with George being a non dependent? I've seen some information on here about an £83ish deduction per month for each non dependent living with you, is this correct?
I know I will lose my council tax reduction also.. can someone please put me on the right path🙏🏻
I was going to call Scope tomorrow. I have emailed before regarding this. So very helpful, but I didn't ask about my HB..
Thank you all.. lots of love.

Hey @justboo99, I'm sorry it took you a while to figure out how to post! If it helps we actually do have a guide for mobile users here: Mobile device or tablet: a guide to using the online community - Scope | Disability forum. You might want to bookmark or somehow save it. It has a lot of information in there to help you on how to use the community 🙂 Thank you for the feedback though, this may also mean we need to better signpost where our guides are for mobile users!

As you're claiming Universal Credit you wouldn't be claiming housing benefit unless you're living in either supported or temporary housing. Your rent will be paid in with UC known as housing element, which is completely different to HB.
As your PIP includes the daily living part there will be no non dependant deductions. See link.
Yes, you would no longer be affected by bedroom tax.

Thanks so much Poppy.. I'm literally trawling Google right now and have just found the same information I think. I do apologise, my housing is in with my UC, housing element. If I wasn't in receipt of PIP, I'd lose £99 p/w HB and £85 p/m UC I think??
I've been at my witts end trying to find out.
Thank you so very much.

You're welcome. No, you wouldn't lose £99 for HB because you're not claiming this. HB is a completely different benefit so please ignore those links that refer to this.
For housing element the deduction would be £85.73/month. Which doesn't apply anyway.

Ooooooh!! I understand now.. cheers Poppy. Two separate things now aren't they…
I lived in a bungalow last year in a retirement living scheme. I had to go over to HB then. I should have realised.
Thanks again.

You're welcome. Yes, it can be very confusing with information about both housing element and housing benefit. So many people confuse the two.

Which is exactly what I've done. Added them both together 🙄🙄
I'm having a daft day today.
It's so nice to be able to come on here, like I have. To ask and be advised. You've put my mind at rest totally 💯 Scope is wonderful. What a wonderful community to have at hand.
Thanks again Poppy.

Jimm, I've mentioned this to Scope. It just didn't mean anything to me and I wasn't curious perhaps. Another great question and outcome though!
