The Mandatory Reconsideration (PIP) process and what to do next if unsuccessful

I think I will be getting a decision fairly soon on the MR so I just wondered if I should be planning what to do next if I'm unsuccessful? This whole process is new to me.

I sent the MR forms off in July and I have since received monthly texts from the DWP to say that my claim will be looked at by October. But I recently received an unexpected call from them. A lady informed me that she would be looking at my case on that day and that I should receive the decision within 10 days (I think that's what she said although I'm not 100% as I was nervous and I can't always take everything in). She only asked me one thing about my claim and that was about one of the symptoms I have.

When I received the initial PIP rejection letter, the assessor had given me 0 points and according to her review, I have no problems due to my disability at all. She didn't mention anything I discussed during the telephone assessment, including the main symptom that I struggle with which I explained in the MR form.

I guess I'm surprised they called me as I just assumed I'd get a letter like the last time.

Heya @Atlas35 it's good to see you again. ๐Ÿ˜Š

That assessors resport sounds mighty familiar, I'm sorry you've had to go through that.
The next step will be applying for the tribunal, we have information on what to do and a general roadmap about it here.

But please don't worry too much, tribunals are worlds apart from the assessments, the tribunals I've gone to have always seemed like they actually cared.

That's brilliant. Thank you for your help @Albus_Scope โ˜บ๏ธ

The thought of going to a tribunal after all this has felt very daunting to me so to hear that they are not like these assessments is very reassuring.

    Thanks again! :)

No problem at all @Atlas35 my friend. I know how sinister they make the tribunal sound, like a big bad wolf, but it's really just a fuzzy little kitten. ๐Ÿ˜Š Will you keep in touch and let us know how you get on?
