how long does it take to hear about a decision for severe disability payments please

    It can be quite quickly if you qualify for payments going forward. If they owe you money it can be longer. The more they owe you the longer it can take.

    As Poppy has said, it can often be fairly quick to get the decision, but they're a lot slower to actually pay any money. Fingers crossed it's quick for you.
