Thanks everyone for the super nice posts π they really mean a lot, I can't explain but I'm feeling bad with self worth and stuff and that I'm hated by society or something π and it just means a lot to get your messages
Jenson is actually one of the worst dogs off a lead!! Any place that allows "only well trained dogs off the lead" he has to stay on it!! He's not super bad though and we won't lose him
You have to train them early on when you let them off. They MUCH prefer the freedom off the lead and you have to teach Tham from a young age that if they abuse that freedom by disobeying you then they don't get given it again i.e. they get made to stay on their lead
Hopefully that doesn't sound really harsh and heartless but it's for their safety
Jenson actually did run off once several years ago after a deer and we thought we'd lost him, he went a good half mile away, but he came back eventually with his tail between his legs, literally!!!!! One thing though is there's no point telling them off AFTER they come back because that teaches them that coming back is wrong!!
It's quite complicated, I think animal psychology is a really valid profession and quite skilled, maybe even more skilled as they can't talk to the animals!

Working dogs can be very difficult at times @66Mustang I totally understand that after our old lady Leeloo. She was a collie/springer cross and was a nightmare! Though if a ball was in hand, she's stick to us like glue. π
Animal psychology is fascinating though, I have a qualification in it now as I wanted to understand my dog boarding guests more. π

Yay nice to see you posting Mustang!!!
Lovely pictures!
Boarder Collies are super intelligent dogs so thatβs a huge bonus with the training as they tend to pick things up pretty quickly.0
