I feel like they want to 'cull' us...

I agree with you, except that I have been doing this for my son for the last twenty odd years….fighting, battling the system, banging my head against a brick wall non stop with MPs, GPs, paediatricians, schools, social workers etc. He has autism and now paranoid schizophrenia. The last 5 years, with him in and out of various hospitals has been horrific and it is still going on, but now I am disabled and unwell, I have nothing left to fight for myself and no one really to help. This is why it really makes me upset and angry when they talk about our "duty" to go to work. I did more than my "duty" for my son and saved them a lot of money in the process and now I need help and support it feels like the rug is being pulled away. They are the ones who need to think about what the word duty means and apply it to themselves. I am just totally exhausted with the whole system and have nothing left to fight with. I am not having a go at you as I do agree, but some of us have nothing left to battle with.

Bless you.
Same with my mum, she's been my carer for 20+;years saved them a fortune in costs etc
This morning she said the loveliest thing but I declined.
she said she doesnt want me to deal with the stress of claiming UC as an autistic person who can't engage with strangers or do what they'll likely ask so she'll apply for the health journey on her UC (she's recently moved over from income support) and get extra for her osteoporosis, renal failure etc and give me the extra she doesn't need so I can get on with my life in peace without the fear.
but I couldn't accept that I'd just suck up going without if They didn't back off.
but you and her are warriors, true heroes and absolutely amazing.

Thank you Nightcity, I think that is one of the loveliest things anyone has ever said to me. I am feeling quite emotional now. You sound like you have a very special relationship with your Mum. My son is still very ill, so it can be very difficult, although I do treasure the occasional sweet moment. I will also just have to manage and go without if it all comes to the worst as there is no way I am capable of doing what they seem to want us to do. All best wishes to you and your Mum.

claiming legitimate concerns are "hysteria" and "conspiracies" only helps those behind horrific atrocities deflect from what they've done. this isn't even limited to the tories/labour culling disabled people.
As for waiting for the budget, we don't need to. The people who run Labour already made clear countless times what their political beliefs are, dating right the way back to the early years of the coalition. The writing is already on the wall.
not having a go at you personally krs1958, this kind of knee jerk reaction to anything that seems extreme (yet has years, sometimes decades) of verifiable evidence, represents deep societal ignorance rampant across British society and needs calling out.

Yes we are best friends we've only got each other.
your son as you say is ill but he loves and appreciates you I have no doubt.
Mum just wants to protect me because of my history of the dwp driving me to the edge, I just said It's wrong to scrounge off her and if anything happened to her I'd be screwed anyway it's delaying the issue not solving it. But even so I really don't want to claim it when the letter comes.
I'm glad you knew my comment was heartfelt you deserve more recognition for what you do everyday.

Like your Mum, I would take all the pain and suffering from my boys onto myself if I could. I think all carers should get the recognition they deserve, but in my experience the more you care and the more you do, the more you are expected to do and the less support you get.

I am okay thank you. I had a call from my son last night (he is currently in a rehab unit) and he sounded a bit more like him than he he has recently which was encouraging. I hope you are okay.
