Switching to Universal Credit from receiving Child tax Credit for limited time
Hi,
I receive Contribution based esa, support group.
I had to switch to UC but because I have recent inheritance I have too many assests so, as I was getting CTC I've been awarded UC for just 11, I think, 11 payments.
If I spend the inheritance, as I am doing on my house, which was the plan, can I get regular monthly UC payments?
Also, I have a house I rent out, which I don't profit from.
Would I get UC?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Rgds,
Dave

If you don't live in the house you rent out, then it is counted as capital and savings, if it is worth over £16000 you won't be entitled to UC
You have to be careful how you spend you inheritance as they might decide you are depriving yourself of capital to claim benefits, and then you won't be able to claim either. You can pay off debt and buy things you need but you're best checkng any big expenditures with them @Manudxp
