Halloween - Trick Or Treaters ππ»π
Hey Peeps
Just curious if people give out candy etc to Trick or Treaters on Halloween?
We joined in last year and ended up spending an absolute fortune on candy and was pretty much constantly up and down handing bags of sweets out, We handed out over 80 bags of sweets which I had made up the day before but this year we are thinking of not bothering and just putting a sign on the door saying not to trick or treat here(Police here provide the signs).
I think the main cause of so many last year was a WhatsApp group lol one of the Mums was telling me that on the WhatsApp group the other mums were posting that our house was giving out the best stuff lol
The Candy Bags I made up had 2X mini chocolate bar, 3X lollies, X10 chewy things and some ghost candy things we got a big bag of so I was probably to blame for the Halloweenies Invasion Squad lol, We must of easily spent over Β£100
Just wondered what others do for Trick Or Treaters?

Aww your house sounds fab to turn up at lol, I love doing it I made the mistake of not putting something outside, so ended up standing on the step calling the children over, saying I'll decorate outside next year for yous lol. I don't spend that much I buy a few of those big bags of Halloween sweets. But I think I might get some more incase this year, what's left over the grandkids can have.

The only way to describe it was been candy looted lol
It was pretty quiet until 6PM then suddenly none stop, It was one of the Mums bringing her little kid that told us the WhatsApp group was telling them where the best houses were, very coordinated effort I must say lol

Hahaha class tho. Don't leave a bowls of goodies outside either, people had teenagers looting them all last year. I think if I do run out I'll just turn all the lights out and pretend I'm out

Thinking this year of just leaving all the lights off and watching horror movies π±
I saw some RING videos of people taking entire bowls of candy from peoples doorsteps, some people just donβt have manners π

Im watching treat ideas on tictoc some good ones, have me made. Might be worth getting the sign not to knock so you can have a peaceful night.

Think I had myself to blame for been overly generous with the goodie bags, I thought rather than buy ones already made Iβd make my own, I bought some funky Halloween candy bags from Amazon and filled them up so probably summoned all the child demons(pun intended lol) with them.
I was tempted to bake Halloween cookies to hand out but was then worried about if some of them had allergens and would get left out.
I know the police have a sign you can print off so might have a look at them.
Only downside is thereβs some really fun Halloween decorations on Amazon that look a lot of fun

We couldn't join in last few years as we lived in a flat, but my youngest sister and a family friend would bring their lil ones over to "scare" us (my middle and youngest nieces).
This year we will as we live in house and there's quite a few children round here.
My youngest sister and our family friend will probably come round with their lil ones.

Awww thatβs lovely that they used to come to your flat to scare you.
Will you be putting decorations up?

My 5 year old granddaughter has the best idea, she sits in the open doorway with the bowl of treats on her lap and hands them out. I'm not sure if everyone gets a treat if they don't give her one first though π

My partner is American so a big YES, we do. Halloween is her favourite 'holiday'. I do think it's a bit cheeky of one of the mum's to spread around your house as the place to go π We put decorations up but last year we didn't get many trick or treaters calling. Think it's because we were spending the evening watching a film in the living room and so none of the front-facing windows had lights on. We'll make sure to leave the light by the front door on this year!

I love Halloween! The kids are so comical and put in a great effort to make you laugh and smile and they dress up and tell you daft jokes (that I never understand even though they do their best to explain the joke), sing silly songs and do bizarre dance routines. I have got 3 front doors (don't ask) and they don't know which door to knock on, so they knock on all three. It sounds like drumming throughout my flat and it is the prelude to fun and mischief. On a serious note, the kids are making you feel part of the community and make you feel safe. So I guess that at the end of the day Halloween is quite a Christian type of festival because it brings people together.

I'm working on Halloween, so may end up dressing up, because I just LOVE spooky season. π¦
We had loads of sweets ready for trick or treaters when we first moved out of the city, but we only had two groups knocking, which was kind of sad as I always love seeing all the happy faces. I also enjoyed scaring people when I answered the door all dressed up in my sfx make up haha0 -
I love Halloween, i used to do the whole front of the house up with creatures and decorations which i had made, don't do that anymore due to illness, but i do love seeing the kids in there costumes, go through loads of sweets on the night, then up late waching horror movies, love it
