LCWRA Assessments.
Afternoon All,
Can anyone verify the new ruling for LCWRA is it correct that any person who is currently on LCWRA after 2025 they won't be reassessed if there condition is unlikely to change or deteriorates further,but will be reassessed if they reprort new information or are deemed to be claiming fraudulently.
You read so much on the Internet that you don't know what actually to believe.

I have not read that yet, as they keep changing their minds, so believe nothing yet, no news is good news at this point!

I believe that relates to old plans and aims from the previous government.
The current government have been quiet about plans, but the Work & Pensions secretary is due to make a statement on October 7th, with the autumn budget to follow a few weeks later.
Their intentions should be clearer after both of those.

I believe that was always a misunderstanding. I'm afraid I don't have a citation except reading somewhere that someone at the DWP during the previous government corrected it shortly after it was published.

Before the election Labour appeared to agree in principle to the future WCA changes as proposed by the Tories - including its eventual phasing out. If that still stands then the likelihood of an announcement on October 7th is fairly strong.
As for PIP it's all still up in the air.

Terry, yes that's correct. I don't know why anyone thinks the plans are on hold. UC was accelerated in May this year in line with the original planned timetable of 24/25 for reassessments. There will be a single 'health element' for LCWRA 'customers' in the UC programme.

Yes, the phasing out of the WCA is a cross-party agreed strategy. Scrapping the WCA has actually been a point that many disability campaigners have pushed for.

But what happens if you are go through it, they have not scrapped mine have they! I will be extremely pleased when they do, its a bane of my life!

As the proposed changes stand there are 700,000 people who stand to lose a lot of money because they don't qualify for PIP. Also, PIP is not an out of work benefit so using it as an assessment of fitness for work is wrong. What worries me the most is without a WCA, all work conditionality will be decided by a work coach, someone with no medical training at all and with targets to meet. Worse than that though is currently we have a legal right of appeal if a WCA finds us fit for work, in the future there will be no right of appeal as legally, no decision will have been made that can be appealed. Very feasibly, that could mean some very ill people being set unreachable work commitments, getting sanctioned, and with no right of appeal. This could see homelessness and loss of life.
It might seem tempting to celebrate the end of the WCA, but leaving us with no alternative protection would be an utter disaster.
