Single universal claim
Hi so here goes my first question. I have separated from my wife and I've been put in a hotel as an emergency. I changed my claim to a single claim. I get extra payments through long term illness and even due in for more surgery next month. Will I loose these payments now and have to start process again? It says I will get a single applicant payment but may require an assessment for health benefits addition. Nothing has changed and I will still be in same position I have for last 2 years. Thank you 😊

LCWRA sorry that's what I was getting.

You will still be entitled to the extra money for the LCWRA element. You just need to wait for your claim to be updated. When you reverted to a single claim from couples all the information from your journal would have cleared.
What date do you usually receive your money each month? Your payment dates will remain the same as always. What date did you report the changes on your claim?
If it's temporary housing you're living in then please note that you will need to claim housing benefit for help with the rent. This needs to be claim from your local Authority. It will not be paid as part of your UC claim.

Hi thanks for replying I normally get it on the 15th of each month and reported changes 18th just past. The local authority are covering the cost for me in hotel I believe I am on a 56 day duty of care process. I was in band B medical for housing but have been told that should be upgraded in coming days to band A I am only allowed to bid on bungalows and ground floor flats. I was going to ring UC today as it had me concerned a bit. I also need to ring pip as need to have payment made into a different account that's due in a few days.

Sorry to hear that. Is it a new UC claim you're having to start? Is there anything that we can help with on here?

That is not correct. Put a message onto your journal and tell them that when you were claiming with your ex partner you had already been through the work capability assessment and were found to have LCWRA.
It may take a couple of weeks for them to update your claim. Your payment dates will remain the same as well as your assessment period dates. Therefore your first payment as a single claim will be 15th October.
You should have received your last payment as a joint claim with your ex partner. As this a change of circumstances you can ask for an advance payment but please be aware that this will need to be repaid back and your future UC payments will be reduced.

Hey thanks for replying not a new claim just change of circumstances. I am waiting to hear back while they look into it as have said don't think they are correct. Not entitled to advance as not a new claim unfortunately but would rather not owe them anything anyway thinking on it.

Yup, they are not correct. Although it's not a new claim so no new claim advance payment but it would be a change of circumstances advance payment which you could claim. I know you said you would rather not but just thought I'd advise anyway, incase others read this.
