does SDP get backdated?

hi I currently claim esa,pip top rate ,CTC, CB,HB,

I have just been transferred to UC as apparently I could be on more money The day after I applied I was told I should be claiming SDP. So I have rang and claimed it. If entitled will it be backdated and when till?? How on UC ARE WE COMPENSATED for the extra elements

    Hi @jaxapple, welcome to the community 😊 SDP should be backdated to when you were eligible for it.

    For the SDP you must either live alone or be treated as living alone and no one must be claiming either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you.

    If other adults living with you they must either be registered blind or claim a qualifying disability benefit theirself, such as PIP/ADP daily living, DLA mid/high rate care or AA.

    Yes, it should be paid from when you became entitled to it.

    However, if you were in the Support Group for ESA then you will unfortunately be worse off by claiming UC unless you were invited to claim because of managed migration.

    The SDP TP if you're a single person in the Support Group for ESA will be £140.97/month.
