It looks from.your article that it's a peanut butter combo being axed not the original.

Phew @Wibbles, you could have caused a whole host of both celebration and despair with that news depending on who's a lover or a hater 😁

I had palpitations when I read that….. don't do that to me again @Wibbles

I'm not sure I could live without marmite 😞

First thing when I read the post was "no way". Marmite is still too popular to not be profitable to sell.

I never tried the peanut combination. While I like peanuts we tend to prefer almond butter or another type of nut because my sister is so allergic to peanuts.

Marmite is here to stay! πŸ˜‹

I wouldn't ruin peanut butter with it πŸ˜– no no

Has anyone tried this Marmite peanut butter? Was it nice?

I suppose if you were sad that this has been discontinued, you could just mix your own. Then you'd be able to customise how Marmitey it is to your own personal taste.

Phew, glad it's not Marmite that is going, my LC toast treat wouldn't be the same. Mind you, they have a range of products now, so they couldn't really pull all them too. I've tried most & the only thing I don't mind from all of them are the Marmite cashews. I love peanut butter, but not the Marmite combo, seems a lot of us don't if they're pulling it. πŸ™ƒ

I know I am probably out of step here but I am not a fan.

@Rosie_Scope I have always had peanut butter and marmite on toast, so naturally tried a jar of the ready mixed stuff. I found it lovely, but as I can mix my own it doesn't matter that the peanut butter version will be stopped. I also like a peanut butter, marmite and banana sandwich. By the way, there is a Nigella recipe aimed at children that mixes marmite with spaghetti. I don't know why she thinks it's for kiddies! I make mine with peanut butter mixed with marmite and add a splash of hot water to make the mixture more flowing. Then I mix it with linguine and add lots of grated cheddar, as cheese and marmite taste wonderful together! Especially with a dollop of peanut butter.

Ooh @Steve_in_The_City, I don't know how I feel about the addition of that banana into a marmite sandwich! I've always felt like bananas are a sweet thing and peanut butter also leans sweet for me unless it's in Asian style dishes. But I suppose it would be sweet and salty together!

I've seen that Nigella dish with Marmite and spaghetti before too, I'd agree that it's not just for kids. I don't think you can go too wrong with butter and Marmite really! I can't eat Marmite on my diet any more but I ate plenty of buttery Marmitey pasta covered in cheese back when I could, delicious πŸ˜‹

I've never thought of mixing anything peanut buttery with cheese before though, I'll have to see if I can find an alternative to Marmite and find out what I think of that combo!

I am sorry you are unable to eat marmite, but hope there are plenty of savoury alternatives to compensate. In any event, you can always enrol in the "hate it" camp! Elvis Presley's favourite sarnie was peanut butter and banana, sometimes with bacon. As banana and peanut butter complement each other so well, why not add marmite as marmite marries so terrifically with peanut butter?! A sort of a menage a trois of a sarnie! I don't what you would call it if you added bacon - bally delicious springs to mind!
