Let us know how it goes @rigilsalim786, it isn't often we get to hear about how the process of becoming an appointee progresses.

yes just to update you I went personally to the job centre there is a lovely lady who helps me quite a lot as I put it in my journal but the coach is not As quick to reply so I decided to go personally I mentioned to her regarding being an appointee she explained the procedure to me exactly what I think poppy mentioned she stated it is not simple straightforward an officer will have to make a home visit. Nothing to worry about. Just saw that the partner is clear as to why she wants me to be her appointee and after the visit if he is happy then I will become the appointee she was going to refer me by end of today and get the ball rolling. She said it might take up to around three weeks as there is a waiting list.

I’ve just had information that I have to become an appointee to speak on behalf of my partner at the assessment which has now been referred to appointee team who will get in touch with me to make a home visit as that is the procedure I tried to get the telephone number so that I could speak to them direct to find out how long it will take as there is awaiting list, but they did not have the number through my journal I even went direct to the job centre. They really don’t know much there. I was wondering whether you know the contact number as I could get an appointment with the assessment team for my wife any day and they have said to me that I can’t speak on her behalf unless , I am an appointee

I don’t believe there’s a specific number you can ring for the appointee. They just send a DWP representative to your home to put this in place.
It may take quite a few weeks to set this up.
If your wife receives an appointment for the assessment before the appointee is in place then you can cancel it and rearrange the assessment. Tell them that you are waiting for DWP home visit to put the appointee in place.

ah ok I didn’t know you could do that

alternatively I have till the end of this month 29th of October to send it in by I suppose I could delay it as much as possible

I hadn’t realised the form hasn’t yet been returned. This means it could be quite a few months before the assessment actually takes place. This should be plenty of time to get the appointee in place.

I just got it last week and I’m trying to drag it towards the end of the sending time which is 29th of October in the meantime I believe for the appointee there is a form that you need to fill in which is BF56 can I download it and get it ready before the officer comes to my house or will he bring the phone and we go through with it?

You don't need to download anything because the DWP rep will bring everything with them. I have personal experience with becoming an appointee so that's how I know the process.

thanks Jess will be sooner rather than later. The lady in the job centre said there’s a waiting list to around three weeks so I’m just gonna have to hope it’s done before the assessment takes place.

as you said you had experience can you tell me what questions they ask me? And is there any questions? They will ask my partner because she’s very nervous and mentally not stable

If the wait is about 3 weeks, you haven't even returned the UC50 form yet so there's plenty of time for them to put the appointee into place before the assessment takes place.
During the home visit they asked my daughter if it was ok for me to manage her claim and to receive her money into my bank account and she said yes. She then went into her bedroom and wasn't really interested. This was back in 2017 but the process hasn't changed.
They asked for my bank details and I had to sign the forms. My daughter didn't have to sign anything. It was maximum 15 minutes. They didn't really ask me any questions, it was all very straight forward.
They said they would go back to the office and put it in place and I would receive a letter in the post, which I did a few weeks later.

thank you for that information
To be honest I have so much solid information regarding her non epilepsy episodes/fabromayalgia widespread pain mental health and the rest of illnesses I’m hoping they make paper decision rather than assessment

hi And good morning sorry to trouble you once again. I am very frustrated because I have now spoken to 3 different people in the assessment team regarding UC 50 form and evidence that you send with it as you know it’s a small envelope and all the evidence will not be fitted into the Andw when I have rang three different people have given me three different addresses to send to, I know they have given me an email as well but I would rather send it through Course. Do you have the right and correct address where you send additional supporting evidence?

What I did is use an A4 envelope for everything, stuck original envelope (with pre paid postage) to the front, and took it to Post Office to pay the postage difference.
Do also ask for a free Certificate of Postage as your proof it's been sent.

thanks that’s a good idea
