Isn't a Standard Identity appointment for new 'customers' only?

JCP is insisting that I attend once again to verify my ID. I recently attended with bank statements and my ID which was accepted at the appointment. I've been in receipt of UC for almost five years.

JCP is refusing to confirm this with UC and insisting on a new appointment - to verify my ID! Help!

Did you put in your initial claim during the Covid lockdowns? They are still working through and re-verifying claimants from this time. What did they ask you to take your bank statements and ID in for?

Hi Emilee, no, initially I claimed in 2017 and had two claims closed. This one runs from 2019 and I have verified my ID at several appointments since then.

My most recent appt followed a UC Claim Review by phone then in person.

It is very unusual to have to keep verifying your ID like this.

May I ask why were your claims closed between 2017 and 2019?

My first UC claim was "unsuccessful". I had no journal but attended biographical and several other appointments before it was closed with no payment. The MR was offered years later but none of it made sense in the journal.

The second claim was altered from the start. I was employed part-time but UC pretended I was self-employed and notified my local authority of this. I eventually refused to report my earnings to them so my second claim ended. This third claim was meant to be a 'rapid-reclaim' via CAB yet it took 14 weeks for the Housing Element to be paid.

I've been attending appointments at this job centre since 2006 (IS/IB migrated to ESA three times - three conversion phases and three conversion decisions!)

So you were claiming Income Support, and then Incapacity Benefit, then ESA and now Universal Credit?

Is everything sorted with your claim now? Did they explain why they were reviewing it?

    Yes.

No, I've had two UC claim reviews this year, both cleared at the time. I didn't ask why because I've got no savings or investments nor reason to worry.

JCP has booked a Standard Identity appointment for me next week. UC have told me JCP cannot confirm it was verified at my last appt. although I know it was, yet again.

    Emilee, thanks for your input.

Am I right in thinking that the Standard Identity appointment is for new 'customers' only?

If so, what is a mid-claim ID check usually called?
