hi ya , this is just not good enough! It seems like they’re not taking you seriously when this is a life threatening condition. You need to be seen by someone urgently, you should be having bloods done at your GP to check your clotting levels at the very least. They should be sent off the same day to the hospital lab to be tested and you should have a call back the same day really like I did to confirm if your levels are higher than normal. I just can’t believe the lack of care you’re getting, you could also complain to the gps pratctice manager too if they’re not doing their job properly. They do say that once you’ve ha d a blood clot you know what the pain and symptoms feels like. I was lucky that I was dealt with quickly and treated as you’d expect too. If you’re that bad and worrried and you’re getting no where with your GP then maybe try ringing 111 for help

Sounds like you need to seek out another GP practise even if you need to pay for a one off private consultation for a second opinion , and take it from there .

Hi Suzymaltwood2612,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulty getting a response from PALS. If you can find a number for them perhaps a phone call to start the ball rolling?
On the matter that your GP will not prescribe blood thinners for you; in my experience, usual practice would be for a Consultant to write to your GP and ask them to continue to supply your medication. As stated previously, Hospitals will normally supply only two weeks supply and then expect a GP to continue with this afterwards indefinitely if required. I gather that you are still waiting to be seen by a Consultant in the first instant and to date you have not received an appointment for this. As a previous post has suggested, it would appear that you need to demand to at least speak to a GP as a matter of urgency and advise them of their "Duty of Care" to ensure that you receive the medication you need. However, you will need to explain how you came by having them prescribed for you in the first instant and ask if there has actually been the referrals done as you have been told. (Experience has also taught me that sometimes referrals don't get processed in a timely manner even if the request is urgent!)

I cannot think of a reason (other than something in your medical history that may affect being prescribed the blood thinners) why a GP still won't prescribe them for you anyway, without a Consultant's direct request.
It is really awful that people are suffering this way. I know that you are not alone enduring this kind of experience, for what it is worth, I have a friend who constantly has a battle to get her life saving medication due to constant battles between the hospital Consultant who initiated the medication and her GP who keeps telling her that the hospital need to provide the medication, on top of that it cannot be sourced locally (not that it is an uncommon drug!) But she has to drive a thirty mile round trip to a chemist that can actually get the medication in stock!!
I really hope that you are able to get this matter resolved quickly. Good luck!

Failing your doctor or referrals doing what is supposed to be done, you can contact your local MP, my brother did and he was seen and sorted in a few weeks
all the best

How can your mental health be effecting blood clots in the legs ?? You may or may not have mental health issues but thats a strange thing to refuse you medical care for BLOOD CLOTS

I would ask to get another opinion ,,just out of interest do you have any spine conditions ,discs ,trapped nerves ect
0 -
the only way I can explain is the disc in my lower back don’t have anything in between them any more degenerative arthritis

That could be why hes saying its nerve pain ,i am in the situation of haveing lots of strange simptems coused by degenating vagas nerve in my spine .i am awaiting nurosurgery ,till then i am suffering strange pains , feet burning ,phantom leg pain , exrucrusiating raging itching attacks all over my body ,strange tastes/ smells ,intermiten loss of speech, and the list goes on ,ive had just about every cancer test .Mri, exray .ect ect known to man ,but it all seems to be coming from my spine damage ,just wondering if you can identifie with anything like this as you seem to be having a diagnoses problem the same as i was untill i took it out of the GP hands and paid for a private consultation who diagnosed me then passed me back to the NHS with diagnosis and treatment plan going forward ,not saying you could have the same but perhaps someone needs to think out of the box for you .but we as the patient need to be proactive and push these days ,staying in the NHS just keeps us on a merry go round

Send a letter to your local MP, it seems you going around their roundabout, change the game and let your local MP know what is happening to you and how you are being treated, get yourself some ammo, be assertive, you do have rights

If a blood clot starts travelling around your blood vessels it could block a vital organ from receiving what it needs, possible consequences are life-threatening, so shout at them if needed ( a form of non-lethal action), so they get the police involved, someone will ask why did you do this (like your solicitor) and maybe you will get the help you need
sorry but it seems you are beating your head against a brick wall and they will never tell you when to stop because it is not hurting them
so I reinforce above, Change the game, get it in your hands after all it is your life
I apologize if I have been rude but it seems quite serious and yes maybe this is a drastic measure well your life is important
Be assertive, you matter and you are just as important as they are, exercise your right

Not sure about shouting at them ,what will happen is they will throw you off their panel ,no what you need is to find someone with some clout to champion you and get your GP off their asses ,yes maybe your MP ? or a consultent working outside the NHS

health board complaints / feedback team is usually worth giving the third degree to, including dropping in terms like "if I am to suffer lasting damage due to this and particularly that which causes me loss of function then I would be minded to consult a solicitor, I would also make you aware should I die due to this not being treated, my next of kin are extremely clear that they would pursue yourselves for wrongful death due to clinical negligence and any other grounds to the fullest extent of the law. HOWEVER I would prefer not to have to take this course of action so I am giving you the opportunity to make this right."
Its funny how rapidly people "SUDDENLY" decide they are able to call you and resolve the matter.…
Blood clots are also not something to mess around with, so also complain to your GP practice and should the GP not take notice then a complaint to the GMC would also be in order....
