Hi, my name is Maxjem!
hello everyone,
My name is Maxine, I suffer terribly with diverticulitis, I’ve had 4 attacks this year & I’m currently suffering a severe one. Have been in bed since Sunday morning & haven’t even been able to walk, I’m on antibiotics but this is a really bad attack, I don’t know what I’ve eaten to cause such a bad attack,
Any suggestions to stop this from happening to me would be most welcome,
Thank you so much for listening

Hello @Maxjem Welcome to the Community. I am so sorry you are suffering with your diverticulitis. I do not suffer from this but do have Ulcerative Colitis and have to be very careful what I eat. When I first started with this condition I kept a food diary and then if I was unwell I could pinpoint what food I had eaten that day. Perhaps you could try this. Some times I can have a "flare up" which is caused by stress.
Any questions just ask.
Take care.

thank you for your message, this time it feels so much worse, how did you find out colitis? Was it a blood test? I feel there is something more wrong with me as I’ve never ever felt this bad before, the pain has been unbearable, thank you for your support & I’m sorry you also struggle xx

Hi @Maxjem I found out when I went to the doctors with bad stomach ache, diarrhoea and weight loss. He arranged for me to have a colonoscopy which showed Ulcerative Colitis. Blood tests showed inflammation. I also had a FIT test. It is a chronic condition and I take medication for life.
If you are concerned about your condition you should speak to your GP again and tell him you are really suffering and need his help.
Please take care.

thank you so much, I will contact my doctor & asked to be referred for a colonoscopy. I’ve had one of these before & that’s where they diagnosed diverticulitis, I’ll also get my bloods done,
Thank you for responding, you take care too

Hi @Maxjem, welcome to the community.
Sorry to hear you've been in so much pain lately, it does sound like a good idea to get in touch with your GP to see whether you can get some more treatment or tests. Bluebell's idea of keeping a food diary sounds like a good thing to try too, perhaps it'll help you pinpoint some of your trigger foods if there are any.
I hope you can find some relief soon!
