It's spooky season, so we need to talk about ghosts.

I love watching ghost videos and getting spooked. Some videos are clearly faked but there are others that leave me wondering.

Are you a believer? Have you seen anything that made you question your beliefs? Are you convinced that ghosts aren't real?

I'm a believer, I grew up two houses away from a cemetery and lived in a very old house.

I don't know if I believe in ghosts in the traditional spooky-see-through-person kind of sense, but I feel like there's something. I don't know if that's energy or what, but I personally wouldn't completely rule out there being some kind of paranormal stuff going on in the world.

I used to love freaking myself out watching TV shows like Most Haunted and all kinds of ghost investigation programs and I still love a spooky show now despite being a bit more cynical.

But I don't think it's always something to be scared of any more, I think there can be nice 'presences' or whatever it is too.

Yes I had paranormal activity where I live.

My friend who is a spiritualist medium came into my home to sort it out but I had really bad vibes and experiences.

I do believe the three spirits have gone now but I no longer sleep in that bedroom lol.

I used to love Most Haunted too @Rosie_Scope! Derek Acorah was such a legend. I like the idea of a ‘presence’ being a nice thing, it’s quite comforting 😊

I knew you’d have something to share @Nightcity That’s a lovely experience to share about your nan. I love how she made it obvious you were the favourite, there’s no messing about with Nans 😂 Ooh the neutral one is spooky. I always get freaked out when in films they show all the cupboard doors open, not sure why! I’ve always been warned not to use a Ouija board, and your experience is a good reminder. Good on you for demanding your neighbour apologise to Francis, I would never dare make a joke at a spirit’s expense!

I can’t wait for your story @RTX1 and what happened in the house in Hull.

Have you ever tried to contact anyone you know through your friend @luvpink? Could you share what kind of experiences you had? I don’t blame you for not sleeping in the haunted bedroom!

    Hi Rachel

Yes, I had shadows moving on my bedroom wall at night.

Everytime I changed position the shadows moved with me and even appeared on my bed.

My room was freezing cold all the time even though it was so hot outside and the sun shines directly at my windows all day.

I felt a presence following me around a lot.

I think an elderly lady died here before I moved in and an elderly man died in the flat upstairs and he was there five days before he was found.

This place has predominately elderly residents.

A lot of them are very ill and have care packages

    Ambulances arrive here regularly.

I believe the place is haunted.

I used to a attend weekly psychic nights but I stopped going in February and the presence of spirits seems to have gone thankfully.

I live in a haunted house and too many things to mention it would take for ever. Also witnessed by other people who have stayed or visited

Definately! I live in a house built in 1916. When we came home sometimes lights would be on. One night I heard heavy steps on the stairs and our daughters bedroom door opening and closing, when I checked the room it was empty. Then we had an insurance salesman in the house our daughter said to me later "who were they" turned out she saw a lady dressed in green sitting beside the insurance man. Then to cap it all I was at the top of the stairs with my cat and at the bottom was a lady in what looked like a dark green velvet gown with black hair piled on top of her head she flickered like an old time movie reel and looked as suprised to see me as I was her. The poor cat flew down the stairs and hid she was so frightened.

So yes there are ghosts and we have one living in our house.

I don’t think I’d be able to stay there @luvpink. I’m still not sure I believe in ghosts but this would freak me out. I’m glad the spirits have gone now so you can relax. I hope your room is warmer now!

Ooh you can’t tease us like that @Sandy_123 😉

Oh my goodness the stairs @Motzart. I wouldn’t dare check, I’d be glued to my seat in fear! Does it not scare you to have a ghost in your house?

One thing that irritates me is things going missing when you need it, then appearing when you don't in a place you searched.ive seen a man going upstairs as clear as looking at another human. Long brown coat and shoes, I watched his feet go on each step. Carrying a brown bag. I was facing my daughter who was standing at the bottom of the stairs and saw him appear at the top last few. I didn't get to see his head as he quickly went round the corner on the landing, towards my daughter's room. At first I thought someone was in the house, I went to look in her room and everywhere, no one, that's when I released I'd saw a ghost, she moved in my room for 3 months after that a teenager

I was scared for a while but then I realised she must have been the previous owner so I thanked her for letting us live in her house. Funnily enough when we arrived here we found some old sepia pictures in the loft. One was of a woman with a beautiful frame surrounding the picture. I put it on my sideboard. It was my ghost n the pic I recognised her as soon as I saw her. So no not afraid just hope her spirit is at rest now.

I have no choice Rachel unfortunately because there is a dire shortage of social homes and private rentals so I count myself fortunate to have a roof over my head.

The apartment is beautiful and very close to the town and beaches.

Years ago when I lived in a different flat in a different part of the country, I bought a bed and an antique jug and wash basin from an auction market.

I used to see the silhouette of an overweight elderly lady stood in my bedroom at night.

    Sometimes she would walk around.

One night I woke up to feel my bed bed being rocked furiously to and fro.

The silhouette of the lady was furiously shaking my bed.

Needless to say I got rid of the bed and the antique jug and bowl.

It stopped soon after but I was too terrified to stay there and I moved back in with my mum lol.

I don’t even know how I’d react if I saw a man walking up the stairs like that @Sandy_123. I’d probably be frozen in fear but then I’d be driving as far away as possible! Your daughter did the right thing, I’d have done the same 😂

Aww that’s lovely @Motzart and wonderful that you have her picture up. I live in an old weaver’s cottage and I’d love to know more about who lived here. We were the first Cooperative in our village so I can imagine there are lots of stories to tell!

That does sound beautiful @luvpink. The ghost was rocking your bed!? I couldn’t cope with that. So I guess ghosts aren’t just attached to places but things too?

I'm really enjoying reading everyone's experiences, so thank you for sharing 😊 For those who believe, when you tell others about what you've witnessed do they tend to believe or are they skeptical?

    Hi Rachel

I have never met a skeptical person yet.

That's really interesting @luvpink. I would've thought there'd be a lot of people who would dismiss it. Maybe there are more believers out there than I thought!

Sorry to be different, I do not believe in ghosts.

  • Rachel_Scope
Rachel_Scope Posts: 1,649 Scope Online Community Coordinator

No that's great @Bluebell21! Definitely want to hear from those who don't believe. I'm not sure I do. I think to truly believe they're real would completely mess with my view on what the world is and who we are. But then what about all the experiences people have had? I find it fascinating.

Would there be anything that could convince you to believe or would you always seek to find a scientific explanation?

I think I would always seek to find a scientific explanation. @Rachel_Scope

Yeah I get that. For me to really believe I'd have to see it with my own eyes, not sure I want to though 😂
