That's lovely @Motzart, what a wonderful thing to happen. I understand not being 100% convinced even after seeing something, it's a huge thing to wrap your head around! I hope it brought her some comfort at least.

Does anyone have any favourite ghost programmes? I like to binge watch 'My Ghost Story' on youtube. It's an American show where they have people talking about their own ghostly experiences. It used to really frighten me, especially because I've always lived in old houses, but I do love a good scare.

Theres a great website for the Midlands, I can't think of the name old folklore or something similar, but it lists all the places in west Midlands where people have reported sightings, In homes and businesses around Birmingham etc . It's really good

The BBC are doing documentaries on the paranormal, I watched a bit last night but a bit freaky to watch at night, the first one is based on a film that was a true story the conjuring

Another one I recall. My great grandmother lived in an old house. The previous occupant used to sit in his chair close to the fire. One night he was too close and his clothes caught fire and the poor soul burned to death. My great granmother swore she used to hear a chair scraping up to the fireplace and the sound of a poker, poking the coals.

    Trigger warning!

I was very skeptical about ghosts & haven't seen one. I could be wrong, but I think sometimes perhaps you have to be in a somewhat receptive mood, at least from my experience.

Many years ago whilst at school, those of us studying Geography visited the Lake District. We were staying at an old coach house, & 4 of us had gone for a walk. On returning & walking up the driveway I said you could just imagine a coach & horses drawing up here. We walked around the left hand corner of the building & lots of leaves were blowing around altho it was a calm autumn evening. After a few paces one person said they thought they'd seen someone; I hadn't, but it honestly felt as if someone had walked through part of my left hand side. I had the impression this was a young female wearing black & white, which was then what the other described they thought they'd seen. None of us quite knew what to make of this.

We recounted this to some others when we got back to our the dormitory. Of course they wanted to walk around again with us, but absolutely nothing happened.

The next morning we sought out the owner, who said a young maid had ended her life due to her lover, who was the gardener, having been killed due to being struck by a tree during a lightening storm. He showed us the rope marks on a banister above in the private part of the property indicating that that was where she'd ended her life. He said a few visitors had seen this young maid, & that he didn't talk about it unless any visitor could describe her, & then he'd tell her story, otherwise he felt it wasn't good for business….

I'd also agree about ouija board use. A few years later as a physio student some of us were daft enough to use one. I can't remember much about it now, but felt that others must have been pushing the glass around. Afterwards I felt the urge to pick up a pen & paper, & it seemed like I was writing messages from a Dr (I think it's called spirit writing) who was trying to help me. I was disconcerted, but often felt like trying it again. All the messages were kindly, but I felt I couldn't accept his help & had to just work on my studies myself. For a short while it also seemed like I had a photographic memory, & could see a page in a textbook of anatomy or physiology just like that. However seeing such a page doesn't help you answer any exam questions! Was it my subconscious, was it something else, who knows?

@Rebecca_Scope You certainly have got some imaginations going on this topic!

I do personally believe that everyone has a soul, and that souls do remain with us for some time before they pass into another realm. Personally I take comfort in that. I’m not someone who would actively try to antagonise the spirit energy of anyone, for I do think that not every spirit is of good energy. Disturbing someone’s spirit that has passed over is in some ways naive. Would people be so quick to dig up a person’s remains once they are gone from this world? I doubt it very much.

I don’t know of anyone that has dabbled with an Ouiji board and had a very good experience with this. I remember doing just that as a younger person and probably inviting something malevolent into the room. There was no slight of hand involved and very disturbing things happening to everyone involved that night - including myself. I do believe in spirits rather than actual ghosts. I firmly believe that they are our spirit guides or can be as disturbing as the people who try to tap into their aura. I now tread very carefully, and have a much greater respect for those that have gone before us.

Please ignore previous one - want to go back & remove the quote & posted instead & can't delete.

Anyway, back to my favourite subject - Halloween. I love all things gothic (except spiders) & Halloween decorations are house decor all year round for me.

I've even had the opportunity to incorporate it into my job - I'm an actor & loved my 3 years of being a scare actor at Hallowscream at York Maze. Sadly, didn't get cast this year - was deeply traumatised by that (oh the joys of Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria) but I digress.

My favourite horror genre is vampires; except Twilight - vampires are not sparkly, they're dark, sadistic, sexual beings & I love them. Anne Rice is or should I say was, my favourite author (sadly she passed away a couple of years ago) & I'm lucky enough to own a signed copy of her last novel.

The image is of me in my character from last year - part scientist, part android.

I definitely believe.. when I was six my grandad died, some months later I was staying at my nans & I was in bed but could see light coming from the other side of the room,I turned over & there was grandad sounded by a brilliant light,he smiled & said I'm alright lad I'm alright then faded away,I wasn't scared as I knew it was grandad & I even pinched my arm to convince myself I was awake.I didn't tell my nan or mum as I didn't want to upset them, around ten years later I did tell my mum & she said the same had happened to her around eighteen months after grandad died.. As an adult I have seen apparitions a few times,so for the sceptics yes ghosts spirits whatever you want to call them are real.

When I was little my family lived in this old house which we rented. It was always cold in some areas. One day myself , I can't remember and my older sister went into one of the bedrooms and there was a man sitting on the bed. My sister thought at first it was our eldest brother who had come home on leave from the army, next minute it was gone.

Also when my youngest brother was a baby, mum heard footsteps upstairs and went up , he was tightly wrapped up in his blanket. The same happened my nephew. my older sister was staying with my brother in law looking after one of the dogs while we were away. She went back home with our dog. My younger brother has often seen things when we lived at our next house growing up.
