LCWRA and budgeting advance.

Right, so earlier on today I called uc requesting a budgeting loan, I stated that I needed a fridge and a freezer as facilitys where I am are no longer avaliable(I live in a HMO) and was rejected because apparently I have no housing costs, the lady told me on the phone I need to go and look what else I could ask for.(Bit naughty I know).

My question is, do budgeting loans and their decisions or the reason why you request them affect your LCWRA atall, like am I going to get another assessment because I stated I needed a freezer even though I don't have housing costs.

Sorry, I have really really bad mental health and overthink so much so if anyone could just shine a bit of light onto me pls.

Thank you

No, a budgeting advance does not affect your LCWRA element. You will not be reviewed because of this. I can see why you were refused. When living in HMO isn't it your landlords responsibility to replace white goods?

Not sure what she means by no housing costs. Are you claiming for help with your rent through UC?

    Hi

I like yourself have previously been turned down for a budgeting advance but I simply called back around an hour later, spoke to someone different and it was passed.

from what you said although you live in a hmo it’s reasonable for you to want a fridge freezer in your private space so that your food etc is secure and doesn’t go missing.

not sure what the comment about not having housing costs relates to, I assume that you pay for the privilege of living in the hmo hence that’s housing costs.

i am sure someone with specific knowledge will comment on this question but my advice would be call again and speak to a different advisor

Have you considered contacting your Local Authority @TheJayJay to see if there is anything they can do to help with this? Sometimes they can help with such purchases, especially if there is a support concern.
