LCWRA Changes
Hi all, like many of you I’m just terrified of these upcoming reforms and what they mean to us. I was wondering if someone can explain to me what making the low capability work assessment more difficult means because I’ve been looking online and there is no real outlines stating what these changes mean. Does it mean diagnosis does it mean people with mental health conditions are the only ones who are going to be affected?
Also, how long do you think it would take for these reforms to be implemented?
Thank you

Hi @Faithlong, don't worry, the benefits system is very confusing, especially when we're stressed. I'll pop it in the UC category and change the title 😊
Hopefully one of our members will be able to help you with this.

It sounds like WCA and PIP maybe linked in the future so it doesn't matter how you title your post.

No one can answer because Labour have yet to make any official announcements about their plans.

Basically, we have no **** idea.
They've said they're not going ahead with the Tory plans but are planning changes "of an equivalent scale", which could mean anything from "basically the Tory white paper with a few details changed, done very quickly" to "some entirely new system made up whole cloth that won't happen for ten years". As always, they've refused to give any actual details, and we're sat here panicking until the 30th.
What we do know, and one of the few rays of hope here, is that Labour's popularity polls have plummeted, the winter fuel cuts were very unpopular, and a large chunk of their voter base are poor and/or disabled. So its possible that Labour might not want to make any too big changes to the system right now. Or they might try a big flagship thing. Again, they refuse to tell anyone anything.
God, I hate this abelist island.
