Autism UC and lwc
Hi I don't know where to start . I am autistic I am self employed and make jewellery currently in start up UC year . I will never make the target they have set for a year as I cannot work full time with our burn out. Surely there is support for autistic people to claim UC but have limited work capacity . I dont know where to go for advise as my work coach doesn't explain things in the way an autistic person can understand . I feel really low and need help .

Hi,
Have you been awarded LCW? If so, your work coach should have the discretion to reduce your targets to a more manageable level.

This is exactly what limited capacity for work is meant for @sjwebster78! Have you heard of the health journey for UC at all? Have you ever submitted fit notes to UC?

Hi @sjwebster78, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear your work coach isn't communicating in a way that helps you.
As others have said, if you're found to have limited capability for work your commitments will be different and that should hopefully make things easier on you 😊
Have you had a work capability assessment as part of your Universal Credit?

No capability assessment as I am self employed I am in my start up year . I don't know if I should have it yet or not

I do t have a fit note as I am able to work just not to the capacity I would need to to make minimum floor . I would have to work over 40 hours a week and do a lot of social media to sell enough which will make me so burnt out and poorly . I can manage to make around half of what they will be asking me to do at the end of this year of start up. It's scary x

You would have to report your health condition and go through a Work Capability Assessment in order to get put into the Low Capability for Work group. At the moment you are classed as fit so will be expected to work the equivalent of full time for UC.
