Labour's plans to "reform" disability benefits
Hi folks,
Things have become a little clearer now after the budget. Here are some trusted sources that summarise the planned changes, which appear to be driven mostly for cost-cutting reasons. Some changes could have severe implications if they come to pass, for instance, plans to scrap WCA altogether and rely on PIP assessments, which would exclude an awful lot of disabled people currently receiving extra benefits for their condition. We really need to fight these reforms, so far there has been very little mention of anything to do with this on news channels. We need to make a huge shout - don't let them get away with it!
Please bear in mind, we don't need to panic yet, they need to bring in a "white paper" first to propose the plans to Parliament, which they're planning to do in the spring, so nothing should happen before then.
