Hello everyone,

This is the first time I have ever written a post anywhere. But I have been looking to Scope for advice ever since my 25-year marriage collapsed earlier this year. I have no support network and reading some of the negative comments people have made to others when they've been asking for support and advice makes me scared to even post this. But I'm desperate…

I have multiple mental and learning disabilities, but have still managed to work part-time, albeit intermittently when I got signed off when my illness struck. I have been on PIP for several years and received a text this morning after a 50-week wait telling me my review is complete. I'm instructed not to ring them and should receive my letter in 2 weeks. I'm so utterly terrified thinking of the worst outcome. I was always on enhanced, which has helped me live especially when I enter episodes.

When my husband left me, I had to apply for UC in August, and I've never been on a means-tested benefit. I sent the UC50 form and now my GP has received a form from them to complete. What does that mean? Please can someone reply, and with kindness, because I have no mental health support anymore because I requested a transfer of care earlier this year after the CMHT and the Trust themselves breached my medical data 3 times in 2 years.

Thank you in advance

    Hi,

UC can ask your GP to confirm your medical conditions in this way.

Has the GP asked you to make an appointment or have they just advised that they've received the form?

If they've asked you to make an appointment before they'll complete the form then just make sure to cover all the points you covered in the UC50 with them so there are no contradictions.

Hi @ScaredNEWBY, welcome to the community. I'm sorry you're feeling so stressed out by all that's going on, I hope we can offer some support and advice here.

With your PIP, even though it says not to ring, other members have stated that they did indeed ring and have been told their result, so it may still be an option if you'd like to find out. Fingers crossed you get the result you're hoping for and all stays stable for you. If worst comes to worst, you can appeal the result. Lots of our members are really helpful and knowledgeable with benefits so you won't be alone if this does happen.

With your UC50, sometimes they will contact your GP to ask a few questions about your health condition or disability. It's usually nothing to worry about, and they will often use it in combination with your work capability assessment. Hopefully your GP can fill in the form nice and quickly and get it back to them.

Have you had a work capability assessment for your universal credit yet?

I hope you'll find the community friendly and welcoming 😊

Hi ScaredNEWBY, welcome to the Scope forum 💜

We all hope that letter brings the answers you need and want!

I've been divorced and know the distress and disruption involved. Truly horrible. Christmas is not going to be what it was and it's painful for everyone involved. Benefits are a minefield but you will find expert advice and links to information on this forum. Keep posting questions in different categories or join in any thread which interests you.

I joined the forum last year and remember the fear I felt (exposure) and the effort it took me to get a post published (I resisted mobile phones or wifi for as long as I could). The Scope online forum is a safe space to talk and be supported. Moderators work hard during office hours on threads and behind the scenes keeping things in check whilst allowing everyone a voice but some tension is to be expected.

The first reply to my first ever post asked me why I was asking that question 😧 it took me a while to recover and dare to try again. Writing is still not easy for me but the support and understanding I've encountered here over time is unrivalled.
