Hi, my name is dawn4dad!Will this one off payment affect his benefits?
My dad is 84 tomorrow, he receives, attendance allowance, state pension and pension credit. He was excited to get a letter from a small private pension, advising him of a one off payment of £1,800 instead of the £10 per month. Will this affect his benefits, he has no savings, had he got to declare this please

hi and welcome to the community unfortunately I can't advise on this. However what I can do is recommend you start in the coffee lounge where you can simply have a chat and why not have fun in the games room

Hey there @dawn4dad and welcome to the community. 😊
Firstly, a big happy birthday to your dad for today!
If your father doesn't have any savings, then the £1.8k won't be an issue, it's only if the savings go to £6k.

As he's claiming Pension Credit (PC) then the capital/savings amount is £10,000 and not £6,000. There's no higher limit for those claiming PC. For every £500 or part thereof over £10,000 there's a £1/week deduction in PC.
