They are about 100 odd pound. Guy Fawkes Day is a big moneymaker for fireworks factories.
If people are willing to spend that much on fireworks, then it makes sense, even in a cost of living crisis. It's supply and demand. I think silent fireworks are a great idea. Don't tthink they'll catcatch on here

Same here - they start earlier and earlier every year - this year they started a week ago - and will continue for a week after the 5th !
Our cats used to jump and run every time a bang went off and if they were outdoors, I was always scared that they would run in to the road and get hit by a car….
So we tried to keep them indoors for a few nights around 5th Nov

Someone mentioned to me that the shops have started to sell silent ones. Hopefully that will be how they all follow on.
Nobody here needs to buy any. The village has a free display every year. You can see it for miles around. I wish it was only public displays and not all over the place on random days.
Years ago, you used to set them off on the weekend nearest the 5th, tell or invite your neighbours. Etiquette. Nobody had them for parties or New Year. They were not sold all year round, you couldn't order online like you can now. So it was better imo. Because you kept animals inside for that weekend if needed.
