Hello I am wondering if my son moves in with me will it effect my houseing benefit I am on state pension

1/ Are you claiming a disability benefit yourself such as PIP daily living, DLA mid/high rate care or Attendance Allowance? If so then there will be no non dependant deductions for HB. If not then it will depend on the circumstances of your son.
2/ If they are under 25 and claim Universal Credit and do not work, or they are claiming Income Related ESA, JSA or Income Support. There will be no deductions.
3/ If they are working then it will depend on their earnings.
If you're also claiming single person discount for council tax reduction this will also end.
Also if you're claiming pension credit that also includes Severe disability premium, this will end unless your son is either registered blind or claims a qualifying disability benefit himself.
