Hi, I need some advice for childcare
I’m really hoping someone can help. I was made permanently disabled in a car crash when my daughter was 3 months old. My plan has always been to return to work when i finished mat leave but life’s been a lot more complicated. I’m now running out of stat sick pay and I’m realizing I’m not well enough yet..
My daughter goes to nursery about 18 hours a week and at the momentshe qualifies for the 15 hours free childcare due to me being on stat sick pay but when stat sick pay ends on sick leave with no pay. I’m not sure what to do….
I am in recipient of UC and full PIP entitlement and wonder if there is a possibility of claiming free childcare whilst in my circumstance? I’m a single mum who shares custody with her dad. But neither of us are in a financial position where we would be able to find another £300 each a month to cover the costs.
I really want to recover as best I can to become well enough to work again. Luckily my employer is very understanding but will not longer pay me after stat sick pay finishes.
Has anyone else been in this situation? I’d really appreciate any advice or help. Thank you ☺️

It maybe possible if your ex partner is working.
If you are separated
You and your ex-partner need to decide who should apply if you are jointly responsible for your child.
If you cannot decide, both of you must apply separately and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will decide who gets a childcare code.
