universal credit

Hi. I am claiming universal credit and already have a job to go to but the dbs wait is preventing me starting my new job. I have ADHD and left my last job due to anxiety and depression. I had a sick note and resigned as it was a volatile place to work and was there for 8 years. I have an interview tomorrow but am feeling really anxious about it and will ring Dr tomorrow to try and get another sick note until I am able to start my new job. I didn’t know about the long wait for DBS atm in my area and it’s triggering me to a downward spiral with my mental health again and feel unable to cope with it all. Will I be penalised for this?

Hi @Kim66 welcome I don't think you will be penalised for waiting for DBs, explain that you are waiting for it before you can start work, they do take awhile to come back because of the checks they do, hopefully you won't be waiting too long.

Hey @Kim66 and a big welcome from me too. 😊

As said, most DBS checks should be done in about two weeks, but some areas will have longer waiting times. Hopefully they wont make you wait too long! You can let UC know you've got employment, subject to the DBS check. Can you add a note to your UC journal and ask if the meeting is actually needed?

I've popped you a quick email, please be on the look out for it. 😁
