Did I do the right thing?
Hiya everyone,
I was a volunteer moderator on an FB group but I had to message the lady owner of the group to let her know that I was stepping down as a moderator as I was getting very overwhelmed by different people asking me to do this that or the other even though they knew i was already doing something that I'd already been asked to do.
I was very apologetic and I explained to her that I needed to step down as a moderator to focus on getting my mental health in the right place for me to help out again.
I've been second guessing myself since, but I know that I need to sort my mental health out first.
I've been wondering if I have done the right thing as I remember that one of the group guides says that you have so many days to get better, but if you think you're going to take longer than the 15 days (I think it said, but I can't remember) then you need to step down and get focus on getting better again so that you can go back to being a moderator again.

I run 4 Facebook groups, it's very tiring and can be very stressful, it's definitely the right thing in your case because your health is most important.
That does sound a very strange and harsh rule for a Facebook group.

Hi @BrianMcFaddenFan82 You must always do what is best for you. Your health is very important. Well done for being a moderator you can always take it up again in the future if you feel able to. Take care.

It's really important to prioritise your mental health, especially if you were feeling overwhelmed @BrianMcFaddenFan82. You can’t be at your best for others if you’re not looking after yourself first. It’s perfectly understandable to need time to focus on you, and I’m sure the group owner will appreciate your honesty and your self-awareness. Don’t second-guess yourself – your health comes first, and as others have said, you can always return when you're ready.

@Nightcity I agree. I thought it was a very strange and harsh rule for a Facebook group.
Ty everyone. I was worried that I'd done the wrong thing, but as @Nightcity said the rule is a very strange and harsh rule for a Facebook group.
It really shocked me when I saw it on the group's moderator rules.
