    Hi @Catherine21, can I ask where you've been reading this? As I have not personally noticed any restaurants or shops saying that they will be closing early. Also many cash machines are 24 hours, so this should not be an issue either?

    Do you mind letting us know where you read all of this?

    Which news was that?

    There certainly has been a concern about bank branches closing down in smaller towns for a long time now. My own town is in fact about to be hit by that very soon as the final bank branch is closing when there used to be 3-4. The council is having to set up a mobile banking unit that can serve the town 3-4 days a week and another town the rest of the time. Certainly not ideal for those who cannot use online banking.

    As a comparison, the increase in Employer National Insurance means that a worker who earns a salary of £25,000 will cost the employer an extra £3 a day to keep as an employee.

    This means there certainly is concern about some businesses, that run tight margins, having to make tough budgeting decisions. I would be quite surprised if all shops and restaurants started closing early however.

    To be fair, many banks have been shutting over the last couple of years, that's not a new thing and is mostly down to the move toward online banking.

    And regarding NI, it's been worked out businesses will save enough through other means to hire a new fulltime member of staff each year, so in theory the NI hike shouldn't affect many businesses unless they were already close to shutting up shop. But that money will certainly help with the UKs infrastructure.

    It's worth checking the date that things are put on the government website, but that's usually a great place of getting factual information. But it wont always be the most up to date info that appears straight away.

    It's from 2018, but they have defined SMI (severe mental illness) as;

    "The phrase severe mental illness (SMI) refers to people with psychological problems that are often so debilitating that their ability to engage in functional and occupational activities is severely impaired. Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are often referred to as an SMI"

    That's taken from the government website also.

    What about bpd bdd do you know or they only mentioned them

    They've only mentioned those two as examples, they'll no doubt have a bigger list and I'm sure it'll depend on the individual and how said mental health issue affects them. Depression can be totally different between two people after all.
