Housing Benefit Reduction
Hi!
Can anyone help me please? I have just migrated from ESA to UC, my first payment is due 10th December but I have received a message in my journal today saying the amount I will be getting for Housing benefit and it will be paid straight to my LA as requested…….the amount they have said i will receive is a lower amount than my actual rent which was covered when i was on ESA, do you think this is a mistake as my circumstances have not changed.
I have wrote a message in my journal with no reply as of yet, i did ring the LA up and they said i would need to speak to UC as they have passed on all the correct information to them.
Thank you for any replies and advice 😃

How many bedrooms do you have?
Do you have children, an extra bedroom due to disability anything like that?

i have the 2 bedrooms and 1 child who is 16 and in full time education, there has been no change what so ever apart from the migration

Has your child been added to the claim, and verified by UC?

I had an interview via phone Saturday for myself to be verified and the work coach did say now they have to wait for CB to verify my daughter…….so maybe this could be why then?

Yes, it could be that your bedroom entitlement is currently one, instead of two it should be with your daughter on the claim.

Yes, try not to worry. UC take a few days to reply. I've just done my ESA to UC migration and due payment the 28th November. My housing costs from UC cover my social housing 1 bed flat and getting paid in full. I've just added another note to journal to remind the that the transitional protection to be added. This keeps your money the same
Good luck
